How does this not exist?
A few months ago I moved from the East Village about 70 blocks north. While a change of 3.5 miles may not seem that dramatic in most of America, it's a pretty notable difference in Manhattan. For one there are more kids and more dogs up here, so watch your step a bit. (stomping on their little loved one is just not a great way to become friends with your new neighbors).
It took me a little while to get established enough to even want to venture outside the few venues that I was initially introduced to - places that admittedly reminded me of lower Manhattan. Finally ready to spread my wings a bit and master my new geographic domain, I started to look for the UES version of the EV Grieve and the Lo Down. Finding a list of the best neighborhood blogs from The Brick Underground confirmed what my own research had already led me to believe, as they wrote, "how is there still no go-to outlet for news on the Upper East Side?!"
This is not my first attempt at a blog, but I will aim to get past making a few posts. Since this is largely for my own interests, I am starting with a focus on restaurants and bars, with randomness thrown in. The UES is a huge geography spanning Central Park/Fifth Avenue, 59th Street, the East River, and 96th. That's a lot of area to cover, and I'm open to contributors, gossip and hot tips!
